I’m leavin’–on a jet plane…

I feel good, confident, calm, courageous, and excited. I’m about to leave my apartment in Los Angeles. Tomorrow, I will be in Thailand. I’ve heard many good things.

It’s tough to leave the people I love behind. But I’ve setup video-Skype for my closest loved ones–my parents and my girlfriend, Jameelah. I’ve exchanged Skype usernames with others. If I missed you, please contact me with your Skype username.

I have a vague itinerary. I’ll start in Thailand and move northeast along the coast to Japan–crossing through at least Vietnam and China on the way and a detour to Indonesia. I’m expecting to be gone for five months. I’ve never traveled abroad for more than ten days. I’ll be traveling solo, but I plan to make friends with other backpackers right away.

I hope to learn more about myself. I hope to build character and strength and awareness. I want to start a business–probably an online one since I’m a software engineer. I want to have fun, learn, and grow.

My journey will be an adventure–that’s for sure.

    Hey Bill,

Good luck on your Journey, I’m wish I had the money to join you. Does your Journey to the Far East include a trip to WI (Since it’s east of CA)? Have fun.
