Pai, Thailand: Day 1

Olivier and I arrived in Pai around 3pm. Pai is a small mountain town of about 2000 people. It’s known for its relaxed atmosphere, small tribal villages, and lush mountainous greenery.

We rented a motorbike and headed out for a waterfall. Neither of us has driven a motorbike before. We noticed our bike’s tank was empty. We stopped at a gas station.

We failed to turn the bike back on. We forgot how to do it. We asked two young women, refueling their motorbike, how to turn on ours. They came over and showed us. We asked them where a waterfall was around here. They said to just follow them. They were going to a temple, a hot springs, and a waterfall. We accepted their invitation. Now we wouldn’t have to worry about navigation.

We drove around the countryside and saw the sights. On our way out of the hot springs, three guys on motorbikes asked us if the hot springs were any good. We said no, if they’ve been to a hot spring before. So, they followed us to the waterfall. We were rolling 7 deep at this point!  It was so fun to drive and ride a motorbike. I loved the warm summer breeze blowing past me.
