Back to Bangkok

I hustled to get ready this morning. We were going to Bangkok.  I battled stomach sickness right before the minibus picked us up.  This wasn’t a good day to have problems.

Homan and I got on the minibus and we were whisked away to the Thai border. It took about half as long as the guidebook said it would.

I pulled out my camera at the border to take a picture. I noticed that my battery was not in the camera.  I forgot it and the charger in the hotel room. I was upset at first because that meant I’d have to buy a new camera.  But I got over it.

We had to wait at the Thai border for another minibus of travelers bound for Bangkok.  Once they arrived, we followed the leader to another minibus. It wouldn’t fit everyone.  I quickly threw my bag in back and hopped in. Homan followed suit.

Some girl wouldn’t sit in the very back, and the minibus organizer got upset at her. He took it out on our whole minibus by making us leave second–making us wait for the other minibus to fill up and leave.  I was upset. That cost us another half hour at the border.

The drive into Bangkok was swift as well.  We found room at the place I originally stayed at in April: the Merry V Guesthouse.  And now I had come full circle.

I was a little nostalgic–eating at the same places I did in April and walking down the same streets.  It felt familiar now, whereas it felt so foreign two months ago.

I got excited thinking about the next two months. What would southern Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia be like? How amazing would it be to travel Indonesia with my girlfriend? What would I do after Indonesia? Only time would tell.
